Kastamonu Essentials

Kastamonu's architectural landscape is defined by its 12th-century hilltop fortress and well-preserved Ottoman civil architecture. Kastamonu Kalesi

Nasrullah Camii

Ottoman mosque built in 1506 by Nasrullah Qadi. It features nine domes and a prominent ablution fountain in the courtyard, known for its intricate calligraphy.

Saat Kulesi

Constructed in 1885 under Governor Abdurrahman Paşa, this 12-meter tower stands on Sarayburnu Hill and offers panoramic views of the historic district.

Şeyh Şaban-I Veli Külliyesi

16th-century religious complex dedicated to the Sufi saint Şeyh Şaban-ı Veli. It includes a mosque, tomb, library, and a museum displaying religious artifacts and calligraphy.

Liva Paşa Etnografya Müzesi

Housed in a three-story Ottoman mansion from 1887, this museum displays traditional wood carvings, textiles, and exhibits detailing 19th-century local life.

Kurşunlu Han Hotel

15th-century caravanserai built by Ismail Bey of the Candarid dynasty. The stone structure features a central courtyard and has been restored to function as a hotel.

Kastamonu Arkeoloji Müzesi

Located in a 1917 building, it houses artifacts from the Hittite, Roman, and Byzantine periods, including statues and mosaics from the ancient city of Pompeipolis.

Rick tombs

Also known as Ev Kaya Mezarları, these are rock-cut tombs dating back to the Paphlagonian period in the 7th century BC, featuring carved facades in the cliffside.

Cem Sultan Bedesteni

15th-century covered market built by Prince Cem Sultan. The restored lead-domed building now operates as a restaurant serving traditional local cuisine.

Yakup Ağa Külliyesi

16th-century social complex including a mosque, madrasa, and kitchen, built by the treasurer of Suleiman the Magnificent. It features a notable wooden door and stone carvings.

Atabeygazi Camii

Built in 1273 during the Candarid period, this is one of the city's oldest mosques, characterized by its original stone masonry and heavy wooden entrance.
