Scenic Keelung Landscapes

Keelung’s landscape is defined by its rugged topography, ranging from the highest peak at Jiangziliaoshan to the coastal caves of Heping Island. This selection features historic landmarks like the 19th-century Keelung Lighthouse and natural wonders including the multi-tiered Taian Waterfall and the ancient Dutch inscriptions at Fan zi dong. Highlights include Wufenshan’s iconic weather station and the sheer rock faces of Jiangziliao Cliff. These sites offer panoramic vistas over the East China Sea and insights into the region’s geological and colonial history.

Standing at 757 meters, this peak is distinguished by its white spherical weather radar station. It is part of Taiwan’s 'Little 100 Peaks' and offers expansive views of the northern coastline.

Ji long deng ta

A white brick lighthouse built in 1899 during the Japanese colonial period. It serves as a navigational aid at the entrance to Keelung Harbor and includes an observation deck.

Fang ding pu bu

Historically recognized as one of the 'Eight Views of Keelung,' this waterfall is situated in the hills near the city center.

Qing ren ta

An observation tower located within the Lovers’ Lake Park, providing views of the surrounding forest, the lake, and the nearby coastline.

Lao ying xiang fei lao ying yan

A rock formation and viewpoint in Lovers’ Lake Park named for the black kites frequently seen soaring above. It offers a direct view of the coast and Dawulun Beach.

Tai an pu bu

A multi-tiered waterfall located in the Qidu District. The surrounding area includes stone-paved trails and a recreational forest park.

Fan zi dong

A natural sea cave on Heping Island containing 17th-century Dutch inscriptions. The cave was historically used as a shelter and offers a perspective of the eroded coastline.

Dawulunshan

A 231-meter peak located near the historic Dawulun Fort. The summit provides views of the Keelung coastline and the North Coast National Scenic Area.

Jiang zi liao jue bi

A massive, smooth rock cliff face and waterfall located along the Jiangziliao Creek. The site is accessible via a trail following the stream bed.

Jiangziliaoshan

The highest peak in Keelung at 728 meters. The summit features a wooden observation deck with a 360-degree view encompassing Taipei, the Keelung coastline, and the surrounding mountain ranges.
