Kythnos Essentials

Kythnos offers a blend of ancient history and natural landmarks. The ancient capital, Bryokastro, preserves ruins from the 10th century BC, while the Katafyki cave in Dryopida features deep galleries once used as an iron mine. Religious architecture is represented by the seaside Panagia Phlampouriane and the white-washed Agios Sostes. The island's coastline includes the sandy Martinakia near the port and more remote, pebble-strewn shores like Skylou and Gaidouromantra, alongside the submerged archaeological finds near the coast.
