Nature Trails and Wetlands

Lääne-Viru County features a diverse range of wetland ecosystems, from the glacial landscapes of the Neeruti Landscape Reserve to the expansive peatlands of Lahemaa and Ohepalu. This collection includes critical bird habitats, rare plant species, and glacial lakes like the Udriku group. Many of these sites, such as Laukasoo and Ohepalu, showcase traditional bog hollows and pools, while spring-fed waters like Jõepere mark the headwaters of regional rivers.

Laukasoo

Extensive bog system within Lahemaa National Park characterized by numerous peat pools and hollows.

Neeruti soo

Wetland located within the Neeruti Landscape Reserve, shaped by glacial activity and surrounded by steep esker ridges.
