Traditional Windmills

Mallorca's landscape is defined by its historic windmills, primarily categorized as flour mills and water-pumping mills. These stone structures, many dating from the 16th to 19th centuries, feature characteristic cylindrical towers and, in some cases, restored wooden blades. Concentrated in the Pla de Mallorca and around towns like Algaida and Sineu, they represent the island's transition from traditional cereal farming to intensive irrigation. This collection highlights preserved examples of rural engineering and Mallorcan architectural heritage.
