Meersburg’s historical landscape is defined by its strategic position above Lake Constance. This selection features the 7th-century Old Castle, Germany's oldest inhabited fortress, and the 18th-century Baroque New Castle, the former residence of the Prince-Bishops of Constance. The list also includes the Obertor, a preserved medieval city gate, and the archaeological earthworks of Burg Schiggendorf, a former hilltop fortification illustrating the region's early defensive architecture.
