Middelburg Essentials

Middelburg's historic center is defined by its architectural heritage from the Dutch Golden Age. The skyline is dominated by the 90.5-meter-high Lange Jan tower, part of a sprawling medieval abbey complex that also houses the Nieuwe Kerk and Koorkerk. The city's civic pride is reflected in the late Gothic Town Hall on the market square, while the remaining 18th-century Koepoort and the Seismolen windmill along the fortifications offer glimpses into the city's former defensive layout and industrial past.
