Religious Heritage

Montauban’s religious architecture reflects its history as a former Protestant stronghold and subsequent Catholic restoration. This collection features the 18th-century Cathedral, built at the city's highest point to symbolize royal authority, and the 13th-century Église Saint-Jacques, which still preserves scars from the 1621 siege. The list also includes the Temple des Carmes, a former medieval monastery, and several 19th-century churches showcasing Southern Gothic and Neo-Gothic styles.
