Mount Etna UNESCO World Heritage Area: Absolute Essentials
Mount Etna, Europe’s most active stratovolcano, is a UNESCO World Heritage site defined by its diverse volcanic topography. This collection covers essential landmarks from the summit's North East and South East craters to the massive Valle del Bove caldera. Visitors can access the high-altitude landscapes via the southern cableway or the northern base at Piano Provenzana. The area features unique geological formations such as the ice-filled Grotta del Gelo and the Barbagallo craters, offering insight into the volcano's recent eruptive history and its evolving silhouette.
Montagnola
One of Etna's most prominent cinder cones, formed during the 1763 eruption. It is situated at an elevation of roughly 2,500 meters, adjacent to the upper cable car station.
