The surrounding landscape is marked by significant cultural landmarks, such as the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Brezje, Slovenia's primary pilgrimage site, and the birthplace of national poet France Prešeren in Vrba. Defensive history is visible at the ruins of Kamen and Lipnica castles, while architectural heritage continues in Begunje with Jože Plečnik’s Murke Pavilion.
