Religious Heritage of Negombo

Negombo’s religious landscape reflects its history as a colonial trading hub and a multicultural center. Often called "Little Rome" for its high density of Catholic churches, the city also houses significant Buddhist sites like Angurukaramulla Temple, known for its massive Buddha statue and dragon-mouth entrance.
