Newcastle’s green landscape is defined by its diverse public parks and historical estates. Jesmond Dene offers a wooded valley with a waterfall and a 12th-century chapel, while the adjacent Armstrong Park houses the ruins of a medieval windmill. Leazes Park, the city's oldest Victorian park, provides a traditional layout with a lake and bandstand. Exhibition Park features the last remaining building from the 1887 Royal Jubilee Exhibition, while the surrounding Town Moor provides expansive open grazing land. Armstrong Park

Wooded park gifted by Lord Armstrong in 1878. It contains the ruins of a 13th-century windmill known as King John’s Palace and the 'Shoe Tree,' a local landmark where footwear is traditionally thrown into the branches.

Newcastle’s oldest municipal park, opened in 1873. Designed in a formal Victorian style, it features a central lake, a restored bandstand, and tennis courts, situated directly adjacent to St James' Park stadium.
