Palma Castles and Fortifications

Palma’s defensive history is anchored by Bellver Castle, a rare 14th-century circular Gothic fortress, and the Almudaina Palace, a Moorish citadel repurposed as a royal residence. This collection also features the 17th-century Castell de Sant Carles, which houses a military museum, and the medieval Torre de Paraires, one of the oldest coastal defense towers in the Mediterranean. These sites, along with historic cannons and towers like Gumara, highlight the city's strategic evolution from the Roman era through the Middle Ages.
