Phitsanulok Province Essentials
Phitsanulok Province serves as a historic bridge between Thailand's central plains and northern mountains. The provincial capital houses the 14th-century Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, home to the Phra Phuttha Chinnarat Buddha image. To the east, the landscape transitions into the rugged Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park, characterized by unique geological rock formations and historical sites from the mid-20th century. The region is also defined by its water systems, including the multi-tiered waterfalls of Thung Salaeng Luang and seasonal white-water rafting on the Khek River.
