Historic Churches & Monasteries

Poros' spiritual landscape is anchored by the 18th-century Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, which houses a notable wood-carved iconostasis and the tombs of Greek War of Independence heroes. The island is dotted with traditional Greek Orthodox chapels, such as the Cathedral of Euangelismos Theotokou, known for its murals by Konstantinos Parthenis. Mone Zoodochou Peges Kalaureias

Founded in 1720 by Archbishop Iakovos II, this monastery features a notable wood-carved iconostasis from Asia Minor and the tombs of Greek naval heroes, including Admiral Miaoulis.

Euangelismos Theotokou

The main cathedral of Poros, built in 1861. The interior is decorated with significant hagiographies and murals painted by the renowned Greek artist Konstantinos Parthenis.
