Historic Churches

This collection features significant religious landmarks across Porto Seguro and its neighboring districts, Arraial d'Ajuda and Trancoso. The selection includes some of Brazil's earliest colonial structures, such as the 16th-century Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora d'Ajuda and the Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Pena in the upper city's historic center. These sites showcase diverse architecture ranging from simple Jesuit-style chapels to modern places of worship, housing collections of sacred art and historical artifacts from the Discovery Coast's colonial era.
