Preah Vihear's Crown Jewels
Preah Vihear province contains two of Cambodia's most significant UNESCO World Heritage sites: the 11th-century Prasat Preah Vihear and the 10th-century capital of Koh Ker. Perched on a 525-meter cliff, Prasat Preah Vihear showcases exceptional Khmer masonry and a unique axial layout. Koh Ker features a sprawling archaeological complex centered around a massive seven-tiered sandstone pyramid. These sites represent a distinct era of Khmer architecture, characterized by monumental scale and intricate stone carvings depicting Hindu mythology and royal power.
