Historic Sites of Perast & Risan

This collection spans the architectural history of the Bay of Kotor, from the 2nd-century Roman floor mosaics in Risan to the 17th and 18th-century Baroque palaces of Perast. Bujovic Palace

17th-century Baroque palace housing the Perast Town Museum. Features prominent stone balconies supported by carved lions and historical inscriptions commemorating the 1654 victory over the Ottomans.

Smekja Palace

Built in 1764, this is the largest palace in Perast. It features a facade of Korčula stone, combining Renaissance elements in the lower levels with Baroque styling on the upper floors.

Zmajevic Palace

A 17th-century Baroque residence known as 'Biskupija,' built directly into the hillside. It served as the seat of the Zmajevic family and features an adjacent chapel with an octagonal bell tower.

Roman Villa of Hypnos

2nd-century AD archaeological site featuring well-preserved Roman floor mosaics. The central attraction is a rare mosaic depicting Hypnos, the god of sleep, located within the remains of a luxury villa.

Sveti Križ

A 16th-century fortress and former monastery used as a strategic defensive point for Perast. The site remains a key example of the town's military architecture against Ottoman incursions.

Sv. Ivan

Medieval church ruins located on the steep slopes above Perast. The site provides architectural evidence of the town's early religious settlements and served as a strategic vantage point.
