Historic Churches and Synagogues

Rzeszów’s religious landscape is defined by its historic Roman Catholic churches, ranging from the 14th-century Parish Church to the interwar Modernism of Christ the King. This collection features the Baroque Holy Cross Church, part of a linear Piarist convent complex on 3 Maja Street, and the Bernardine Monastery, home to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Rzeszów. These sites showcase diverse architectural styles, including Gothic, Late Renaissance, and Baroque, while serving as significant cultural landmarks and mausoleums for local noble families like the Ligęzas.

Kościół Św. Krzyża

A Baroque church and former Piarist convent designed by Tylman van Gameren. The complex is situated along the historic 3 Maja Street and features a distinctive linear layout.

Kościół świętych Wojciecha i Stanisława (Kościół farny)

The city's oldest parish church, with foundations dating back to the 14th century. It features a Gothic chancel and a Baroque nave, accompanied by a prominent detached bell tower.

Kościół pw. Matki Boskiej Królowej Polski

An 18th-century garrison church originally built for the Reformed Franciscan Order. Located in the city center, it serves as a significant example of Late Baroque architecture.

Kościół pw. Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Marii Panny

A 17th-century Late Renaissance church within the Bernardine Monastery complex. It houses the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Rzeszów and the alabaster monuments of the Ligęza family.

Kościół pw. Chrystusa Króla

A Modernist temple built in the 1930s according to the designs of Witold Rawski. It is characterized by its monumental form and unique architectural style from the interwar period.
