Maritime Heritage

Sanlúcar de Barrameda’s maritime identity is defined by its position at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River. This selection highlights the historic Bonanza district, featuring its primary fishing harbor and the 19th-century San Jerónimo lighthouse. The list includes infrastructure essential to the city's artisanal fishing industry and the Real Fernando vessel, which connects the town to Doñana National Park, alongside the local sailing club used for regional regattas.

Puerto de Bonanza

The city's primary fishing port and commercial dock. It serves as the base for an extensive artisanal fleet specializing in king prawns and features a traditional fish market where daily catches are auctioned.

Faro de San Jerónimo (Bonanza)

A 19th-century lighthouse built to guide vessels through the sandbars of the Guadalquivir estuary. It remains a key navigational landmark for maritime traffic entering the river from the Atlantic Ocean.

Real Fernando Boat

A passenger vessel providing guided ecological tours across the river to Doñana National Park. It is named after the first steamship that established the regular maritime route between Seville and Sanlúcar.

Muelle de Bonanza

A functional pier used by the local fleet for unloading seafood. It offers a direct view of the industrial maritime operations and the traditional fishing techniques still practiced in the estuary.

Club Náutico de Sanlúcar de Barrameda

A riverside facility offering mooring services and sailing instruction. Located near the Bajo de Guía beach, it serves as the central hub for recreational boating and regional nautical competitions.
