Santiago’s landscape is defined by its "island hills" and the towering Andes. This collection includes central landmarks like Santa Lucía Hill, the site of the city's 1541 foundation, and San Cristóbal Hill, which rises 300 meters above the urban valley. On the city's edge, Cerro Renca and Cerro 18 offer perspectives from the north and east, while the 5,434-meter Cerro El Plomo represents the highest peak visible from the capital and a significant historical Inca ceremonial site.
