Settle Essentials

Settle serves as the primary gateway to the historic Settle-Carlisle Railway, one of Britain’s most scenic rail routes. The town is defined by its 17th-century stone architecture and dramatic limestone landscapes, such as the Castleberg Crag and Victoria Cave. Settle

Settle is a railway station on the Settle and Carlisle Line, which runs between Carlisle and Leeds.

Victoria Hall

The UK's oldest remaining music hall, opened in 1853. This Grade II-listed Victorian venue hosts a regular program of live music, theater, and community performances.

Museum of North Craven Life

Housed in The Folly, a 17th-century Grade I-listed building. The museum features exhibitions on the archaeology, history, and people of the North Craven district.

Victoria Cave

A limestone cave discovered in 1837. Excavations have uncovered prehistoric animal remains, including hippopotamus and hyena bones, alongside Roman-era artifacts and coins.

Scaleber Force Waterfall

A 40-foot multi-tiered waterfall situated in a wooded gorge on Scaleber Beck. The site is accessible via a trail and features distinctive limestone rock formations.

Castleberg Crag

A 30-meter limestone cliff overlooking the town center. It features multiple sport climbing routes and a public footpath leading to a viewpoint at the top.

Settle Station Signal Box

A restored 19th-century Midland Railway signal box. It serves as a heritage museum where visitors can see the original 1891 lever frame in operation.

Market Place

The town's central hub for local bus services. The square is surrounded by historic stone buildings, including the 17th-century Shambles and the Town Hall.
