Historic Temples & Churches

Sheung Wan and the surrounding hillsides preserve a dense collection of colonial-era religious landmarks dating back to the mid-19th century. St. John's Cathedral

Dating back to 1849, this beautiful and well-maintained Anglican church was built in English Gothic style.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Completed in 1888, this Gothic Revival cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong. Built in a cruciform shape with granite and brick, it is a designated Grade I historic building.

Xie li jie qing zhen si Jamia Mosque

Established in 1849 and rebuilt in 1915, this is Hong Kong's oldest mosque. The Grade I historic building is easily identified by its distinct mint-green exterior and elegant arched windows.

St. Paul's Church (Episcopal)

An Anglican church completed in 1911, characterized by its red-brick exterior. It stands as a prominent example of early 20th-century colonial ecclesiastical architecture on the slopes of Glenealy.

Sacred Heart Chapel

A Catholic chapel associated with the Canossian Missions, established in the late 19th century to serve the local community and the adjacent Sacred Heart Canossian College.
