Smederevo Must-Sees

Smederevo served as the final capital of the medieval Serbian Despotate before the Ottoman conquest. This list centers on the 15th-century Smederevo Fortress, one of Europe's largest flatland fortifications, including its inner court (Mali grad) and outer defensive walls (Veliki grad). Smederevo Fortress

Mali grad

The inner keep of Smederevo Fortress, containing the remains of the Despot's palace. It features six bifora windows in the former throne room and was the primary residence of the ruling Branković family.

Obrenović Villa

The Obrenović Villa or Villa Zlatni Breg in Smederevo, Serbia, was a summerhouse of the royal Obrenović dynasty.

Crkva Svetog Georgija

A 19th-century Serbian Orthodox church built between 1850 and 1854. Designed by architect Jan Nevole, it is one of the largest churches in Serbia and features a mix of architectural styles.

Karadordev dud

A 300-year-old white mulberry tree. In 1805, the Turkish commander handed over the keys to the Smederevo Fortress to Karađorđe, leader of the First Serbian Uprising, beneath its branches.
