Churches and Chapels

Turnhout’s religious landscape features a significant collection of ecclesiastical architecture spanning seven centuries. The city's skyline is dominated by the 92-meter neo-Gothic tower of the Heilig Hartkerk and the historic 13th-century Sint-Pieterskerk. Beyond these major landmarks, the collection includes the modernist Sint-Franciscus van Assisikerk in Schorvoort and several specialized devotional sites, such as the Lourdesgrot and the Kapel van het Heilig Aanschijn, reflecting the deep-rooted Catholic heritage of the Kempen region.
