Historic Churches and Chapels

Vigo’s religious landscape spans centuries, from the 12th-century Romanesque architecture of San Salvador de Coruxo and Santiago de Bembrive to the neoclassical Concatedral de Santa María. Concatedral de Santa María - Colexiata de Vigo

Neoclassical cathedral built in the early 19th century by Melchor de Prado. It houses the venerated Cristo de la Victoria, an 18th-century sculpture central to the city's Reconquest celebrations.

Capela de Nosa Señora da Guía

Mid-20th-century regionalist chapel designed by architect Manuel Gómez Román. Situated at the summit of A Guía hill, it serves as a prominent landmark overlooking the Vigo estuary.

Igrexa de San Salvador de Coruxo

12th-century Romanesque church featuring three semicircular apses. It is one of the best-preserved examples of medieval monastic architecture in the region, retaining original corbels and stonework.

Igrexa parroquial de Santiago de Bembrive

Romanesque church dating to the late 12th century. The structure retains its original medieval apse, decorated capitals, and traditional Galician granite construction.

Igrexa de San Miguel de Bouzas

Coastal church originally built in 1569 and expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a Baroque main altarpiece and serves as the religious heart of the historic Bouzas fishing district.

Mid-20th-century church known for its modernist architecture and soaring bell tower. It is a significant local pilgrimage site dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima.

Modernist granite church designed by Antonio Cominges in the 1950s. It features a neo-Gothic influence and is situated near the slopes of O Castro hill.
