Wetlands and Wildlife Sanctuaries

Zeeland’s landscape is defined by its relationship with the North Sea and the Scheldt estuaries. This selection features several bird hides, known locally as vogelkijkhutten, positioned along key migration routes. These sites include the saline Grevelingenmeer and the tidal mudflats of the Westerschelde. From the managed grasslands of De Blikken to the protected dunes of Zeepeduinen, these locations offer specific environments for observing regional species such as avocets, spoonbills, and seals within the province's unique delta ecosystem.
