Al Farafra Oasis is defined by the White Desert National Park, characterized by wind-eroded chalk formations and prehistoric marine fossils. Geological highlights include Crystal Mountain, a ridge of exposed calcite, and the dramatic limestone cliffs of El Aqabat.
