Bangkok Yai Essentials

Bangkok Yai preserves the historic soul of Thonburi through its riverside landmarks and canal-side communities. The district features the iconic porcelain-encrusted prangs of Wat Arun and the 18th-century Wang Derm Palace, the former residence of King Taksin. Along Khlong Bang Luang, traditional wooden stilt houses host an artist community and local market. Architectural highlights include the Bang Luang Mosque, built in a traditional Thai style, the massive Buddha image at Wat Kanlayanamit, and the 17th-century Wichai Prasit Fort guarding the Chao Phraya.
