Alpine Huts and Shelters
This collection features remote Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) huts and bivouacs scattered across the Bernese Alps, ranging from the high-altitude Oberaarjochhütte at 3,256 meters to the historic Gaulihütte, site of the 1946 Dakota crash rescue. Lämmerenhütte
Swiss Alpine Club hut situated at 2,501 meters near the Gemmi Pass. It serves as a primary base for climbing the Wildstrubel massif and offers panoramic views of the Valais Alps.
B Bäregghütte
Constructed in 2006 to replace the landslide-threatened Stieregghütte, this hut sits at 1,775 meters. It overlooks the Lower Grindelwald Glacier and serves regional Bernese cuisine.
C Oberaarjochhütte
A high-altitude Swiss Alpine Club shelter located at 3,256 meters. It is positioned on a rock ridge between the Oberaar and Fiescher glaciers.
D Cabane des Audannes
Located at 2,508 meters near the Audannes Lake, this hut is notable for its unique hexagonal wooden architecture and its position on the route to the Wildhorn.
Hollandia Hut
The Hollandia Hut is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located east of Blatten in the canton of Valais.
F Stockhorn-Biwak
A basic, unstaffed bivouac shelter located on the Stockhorn at 2,598 meters, providing minimal facilities for emergency use or simple high-altitude stays.
Gleckstein Hut

Bergli Hut

Cabane de Gelten SAC

Gaulihütte SAC
Located at 2,205 meters near the Gauli Glacier, this hut is historically significant as the site of the 1946 Dakota C-53 plane crash and subsequent rescue operation.
Aarbiwak
A remote Swiss Alpine Club bivouac at 2,731 meters in the Aar massif. This self-catering shelter offers basic accommodation for mountaineers crossing the high-altitude passes.
Silberhornhütte SAC
A small mountain cabin at 2,663 meters, primarily used by climbers as a starting point for the technical ascent of the Silberhorn and the Jungfrau.
Cabane des Diablerets

Balmhornhütte SAC
