Alpine Huts and Shelters

This collection features remote Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) huts and bivouacs scattered across the Bernese Alps, ranging from the high-altitude Oberaarjochhütte at 3,256 meters to the historic Gaulihütte, site of the 1946 Dakota crash rescue. These shelters serve as essential base camps for mountaineering ascents of the Jungfrau, Wildhorn, and Blümlisalp massifs. Many, like the hexagonal Cabane des Audannes or the modern Bäregghütte—built to replace structures lost to glacier retreat—offer unique architectural insights alongside high-mountain lodging and regional cuisine.

Lämmerenhütte

Swiss Alpine Club hut situated at 2,501 meters near the Gemmi Pass. It serves as a primary base for climbing the Wildstrubel massif and offers panoramic views of the Valais Alps.
