Gifu Prefecture’s landscape is defined by the Hida Mountains and significant volcanic activity. This collection features Mount Ontake, Japan's second-highest volcano, and Mount Norikura’s highest peak, Kengamine. Natural formations extend underground at the Hida Great Limestone Cave, while the 76-meter Shiramizu Falls and Hirayu Waterfall showcase the region's hydrological features. The list also includes the Site of Reversible Destiny, an immersive architectural park by Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins, and the historic forest grounds of Shiroyama Park in Takayama.

Hirayu Waterfall

A 64-meter-high waterfall within the Okuhida Onsen region. Designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, the cascade completely freezes during February, forming a massive ice pillar.
