Perched on a 30-meter high conglomerate rock above the Kokra River canyon, Kranj’s historical center showcases a blend of medieval and modern Slovenian culture. This selection highlights the city’s architectural evolution, from the 13th-century Castle Khislstein and Gothic Parish Church of St. Cantius to the monumental 20th-century stairs and arcades designed by Jože Plečnik. The sites also honor national poet France Prešeren, including his memorial and the theater bearing his name, alongside the Gorenjska Museum and the remnants of the town's medieval defenses.
