Alpine Peaks & Climbing

The Sella Group in the Italian Dolomites offers a dense concentration of high-altitude routes and technical rock faces. This selection features the plateau-topped Sass Pordoi and the Piz Ciavazes, known for its massive vertical south wall. It includes the Brigata Tridentina, one of the region's most famous via ferratas featuring a suspension bridge, alongside the demanding Cesare Piazzetta route. Climbers will also find sport climbing at Falesia Pian Schiavaneis and several peaks exceeding 2,800 meters accessible via technical paths.

Sass Pordoi A

Sass Pordoi

A 2,950-meter plateau-shaped summit known as the Terrace of the Dolomites. It is accessible by cable car from Pordoi Pass and serves as a primary starting point for traverses across the Sella Massif.

Via Ferrata Brigata Tridentina

A classic protected climbing route leading to the Pisciadù Hut. The route is characterized by its iconic suspension bridge spanning a deep chasm and technical sections on the Exner Tower.

Piz Pisciadù - Pisciadù-Spitze - Cima Pisciadù

A 2,985-meter peak in the northern Sella Group. It is the destination for the Brigata Tridentina via ferrata and offers expansive views over the Val Badia and the surrounding Dolomite peaks.

Piz Ciavazes

A 2,828-meter mountain famous among alpine climbers for its expansive south wall. The face contains numerous multi-pitch traditional climbing routes ranging from UIAA Grade IV to VII.

Le Ponte - Le Punte

A rocky peak located in the eastern sector of the Sella Group near the Vallon basin.

Dent de Mezdi F

Dent de Mezdi

A distinct rock spire located within the Val Mesdì, a prominent glacial valley that bisects the Sella Massif.

Via ferrata Cesare Piazzetta

One of the most challenging via ferratas in the Dolomites. It begins with a strenuous, vertical entry wall near Pordoi Pass before ascending toward the Piz Boè plateau.

Falesia Pian Schiavaneis

A high-altitude sport climbing crag situated in the valley between the Sella and Pordoi passes. It features overhanging limestone routes with a concentration of intermediate and advanced grades.

Boesekofel Klettersteig (Piz da Lech)

A moderately difficult via ferrata featuring two long vertical ladders. The route ascends the steep rock faces of Piz da Lech above the town of Corvara.

Ferrata Vallon

A high-altitude via ferrata located in the Vallon cirque. The route includes a bridge over a waterfall and provides a technical approach toward the summit of Piz Boè.

Sasso Della Palestra

A local climbing crag used for training and practice, situated near the alpine passes of the Sella Group.

Piz da Lêch

A 2,911-meter peak, also known as Boèseekofel, overlooking the Val Badia. It is frequently climbed via its namesake via ferrata or approached from the Boè cable car station.
