These volcanic plugs serve as nesting sites for various seabirds. The area’s maritime history is marked by the remains of seasonal fishing stations at Dritvík and distinctive navigational aids like the bright orange Svörtuloft lighthouse, perched atop steep lava cliffs, and the white Malarrífsviti lighthouse.
