Historic Churches of Trnava

Trnava, often called 'Little Rome,' features a dense concentration of Gothic and Baroque religious architecture. This collection includes the 14th-century St. Nicolas Basilica, built at a historic trade crossroads, and the St. John the Baptist Cathedral, a major landmark of western Slovakia. Other notable sites include the Gothic Church of St. Helen and the Franciscan Church of St. James with its baroque monastery complex. These structures represent centuries of spiritual life, ranging from medieval stone foundations to the early 20th-century Lutheran church.
