Mountain Huts & Campgrounds

This collection features essential base camps and shelters across the Altai Republic, ranging from historic mountaineering hubs like Alplager Aktru to high-altitude bivouacs like Tomskie Stoanki. These sites serve as critical staging points for expeditions to Belukha Peak, the Aktru glaciers, and the remote Ukok Plateau. Alplager Aktru

Established in 1938 at 2,150 meters, this is one of Altai's oldest mountaineering bases. It serves as the primary training center for climbers ascending the Aktru-Bashi and Karatash peaks.

Hizina glaciologov

High-altitude shelter used by researchers and climbers, located near the Big Aktru glacier. It provides basic refuge for those monitoring glacial movements or staging summit attempts.

Tungur

Riverside campground in the village of Tyungur, functioning as the primary logistics hub and starting point for expeditions toward Mount Belukha and Akkem Lake.

Kamennye griby

Situated in the Chulyshman Valley, this site provides access to the 'Stone Mushrooms' rock formations. It offers basic camping facilities near the Ak-Kurum tract.

Turkompleks "Multa"

Base located in Maralnik-1, serving as the gateway to the Multinskiye Lakes. It offers wooden cabins and coordinates transport into the Katun Nature Reserve.

Tomskie stoanki

High-altitude camping ground at approximately 3,000 meters on the Akkem Glacier. It serves as the final technical base for climbers preparing to cross the Delone Pass.

Tri berezy

Common stopping point on the trekking route to Akkem Lake. It is used by hikers as a transition point between the Kuzuyak Pass and the high alpine zone.

Zelenaa gostinica

Grassy alpine meadow at the foot of the Akkem Glacier. This natural campsite is a preferred base for hikers exploring the Valley of Seven Lakes and Ak-Oyuk peak.

Gornyj centr "Altaj-Aktru"

Year-round mountain center in the Aktru Valley offering heated cabins, dining facilities, and specialized training for rescue operations and alpine climbing.

Derevna Berendeevka

Eco-resort in the Chemalsky District featuring traditional Russian log cabins. The site focuses on historical architecture and sits along the banks of the Sema River.

Plato ukok

Remote shelter on the high-altitude Ukok Plateau near the Russian-Mongolian border. It provides vital cover in a region known for extreme weather and archaeological significance.

Chale 'Priskalny'

Chalet complex on the banks of the Katun River featuring pine-wood cabins. It provides access to the Chemal region's rafting and hiking trails.

Golden Mountains

Modern chalet accommodation located near the Chuyisky Trakt in the Kuray Steppe, offering views of the North Chuya Range and the Aktru glaciers.

Ust-Culci

Campground located at the confluence of the Chulcha and Chulyshman rivers. It is the main starting point for the trail to the 160-meter Uchar Waterfall.

Baza otdyha Inegen

Tourist base located where the Katun and Argut rivers meet. It offers traditional yurts and wooden houses, serving as a remote outpost for exploring central Altai.
