Provinz Battambang

Battambang Essentials

Battambang showcases a mix of Angkorian history and French colonial architecture. Wat Banan features 11th-century towers atop a hill, while the city center is marked by the Art Deco Phsar Nat market. The region’s history is preserved at the Provincial Museum and the traditional wooden houses of Wat Kor village. Natural spectacles include the sunset bat exodus at Phnom Sampeau and the bird colonies of Prek Toal. The Bamboo Train offers a unique look at improvised transport, while the Killing Caves and Samrong Knong serve as memorials to the Khmer Rouge era.
