This selection of campgrounds provides access to Custer State Park’s diverse landscapes, ranging from lakeside sites to pine-forested loops. Key locations include Stockade Lake and Legion Lake, which offer water activities and proximity to the Needles Highway. The Game Lodge Campground features amenities like a sanitary dump station and power supplies, while sites like Spokane Creek provide a mix of cabins and tent spaces near Iron Mountain Road. These locations serve as base points for viewing bison herds and exploring the Black Hills.
Spokane Creek Cabins & Campground
Located on Iron Mountain Road, this facility includes cabins, RV sites, an outdoor pool, mini-golf, and a general store.
Game Lodge Campground
Features electrical hookups and a dump station near Grace Coolidge Creek. Located within walking distance of the State Game Lodge and Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center.
Stockade Lake Campground South
Situated on the southern shore of the park's largest lake. Includes vault toilets and immediate access to boating and fishing areas.
Legion Lake Campground
Offers 26 campsites with electrical hookups near the Badger Clark Historic Home. Located directly across from the lodge and lakefront.
Bismark Lake Campground
National Forest site featuring 22 campsites in a ponderosa pine forest overlooking the water.
Stockade Lake North Campground
Provides electrical and non-electrical sites with access to a swimming beach, playground, and boat ramp on the lake's northern shore.
Center Lake Campground Upper Loop
Secluded loop set in a ponderosa pine forest near the lake.
Center Lake Campground Lower Loop
Located near the Black Hills Playhouse and northern entrance. Provides access to swimming beaches and shower facilities.
