Historical Ruins

Karpathos preserves a diverse archaeological record spanning from the Mycenaean period to the Early Christian era. This collection features the ancient acropolis of Arkasa with its Cyclopean walls, the rock-cut Hellenistic tombs of Vrougounda, and the coastal remains of the Agia Fotini basilica. Visitors can also explore Roman engineering through the preserved cisterns and rock-cut dwellings in Lefkos, which showcase the island's strategic importance in Mediterranean maritime history.

Arkésia, Paleókastro

Site of the ancient city of Arkasa, featuring remains of Mycenaean walls and a medieval fortress built over ancient foundations on a rocky peninsula.

Vrougounda
