Beautiful Sandy Beaches
La Palma’s coastline is defined by its volcanic origins, featuring a selection of black sand beaches and secluded coves. This collection includes the expansive shores of Puerto Naos and the dramatic cliffside setting of Playa de Nogales in the north. Further south, the coves of Fuencaliente, such as La Zamora, offer clear waters adjacent to volcanic landscapes, while Malpique serves as a primary site for shore diving and underwater exploration.
Playa de El Puerto
Sheltered black sand beach located next to the Tazacorte harbor. It features a long breakwater that calms the Atlantic swells, providing some of the calmest swimming conditions on the island.
Playa de Nogales
Secluded black sand beach situated at the base of a high cliff in Puntallana. Accessible via a stone cliffside path, it is known for its strong Atlantic currents and is a frequent spot for local surfers.
Puerto Naos
The main holiday resort on the western side of the island featuring a great beach covered in black volcanic sand. Lovely place.
Playa de la Zamora Grande
Small volcanic cove in the south of La Palma, set beneath steep cliffs near the Teneguía vineyards. The area is notable for its clear waters and its location within a protected marine reserve.
Playa de Malpique
Volcanic sand beach known as a premier diving location. Its seabed hosts the Crosses of Malpique, an underwater memorial consisting of 40 stone crosses placed 20 meters deep.
