Monfragüe National Park Essentials
Monfragüe National Park encompasses the confluence of the Tagus and Tiétar rivers in Extremadura. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is characterized by Mediterranean scrubland and dramatic quartzite cliffs, most notably the Salto del Gitano. It serves as a critical habitat for the Spanish imperial eagle, black vulture, and griffon vulture. A narrow gorge on the Tiétar River. This spot is famous among birdwatchers for sightings of the Spanish imperial eagle and the Eurasian eagle-owl nesting in the rocky walls.
Mirador del Puente del Cardenal
Viewpoint overlooking a 15th-century stone bridge. The bridge is often submerged by the waters of the Tagus River reservoir, typically becoming visible only during dry periods or low water levels.
