Historical & Archaeological Sites

This collection highlights the archaeological and historical evolution of Morocco’s Atlantic coast, spanning from Roman-Berber antiquity to the modern era. It features the ruins of Iulia Valentia Banasa and the ancient river port of Thamusida, alongside the medieval Merinid necropolis of Chellah. The selection also includes Rabat’s UNESCO-listed urban heritage, where 12th-century Almohad monuments and the defensive Kasbah Mahdiyya contrast with the 20th-century craftsmanship of the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.
