Ranong Province Essentials

Ranong Province, Thailand's wettest region, centers on geothermal activity and coastal landscapes. The area features the Raksa Warin and Porn Rung hot springs, where mineral-rich waters reach temperatures of 65°C. To the south, Ko Phayam offers a car-free environment with cashew nut plantations and the distinctive natural rock arch at Sunset Point. Inland, the treeless Phu Khao Ya, or Grass Hill, shifts from vibrant green to golden brown depending on the season, while the Ranong Canyon provides a reservoir formed in an abandoned tin mine.

Ranong Hot Springs

Situated in a beautiful arboretum, the extensive pool complex is filled with hot mineral water. Soak in and relax.

Porn Rung Hot Spring

Natural mineral pools located within Namtok Ngao National Park. The site features several concrete basins with varying temperatures, typically around 40°C, surrounded by forest.

Wad t po tha ram

Buddhist temple situated adjacent to the Raksa Warin Hot Springs. It features traditional Thai architecture and offers access to mineral water baths within the temple grounds.

Phayam Island

This island is still undeveloped as it doesn't even have roads for cars. Well worth visiting for its endless, dreamy beaches.

Hole Rock/Sunset Point

A natural rock formation featuring a large archway on the northern end of Ao Khao Kwai, also known as Buffalo Bay, on Ko Phayam.

phu khao ya

A treeless landscape covered in thick grass that changes from lush green in the rainy season to golden yellow during the dry months.

Pu Ya Ban waterfall

A multi-tiered waterfall located directly alongside Highway 4. The falls flow year-round and are easily accessible from the main road.

Night food market

Located along Ruangrat Road in Ranong town, this evening market specializes in Southern Thai street food, fresh seafood, and local snacks.

Ranong Canyon

This reservoir filled with water is a remnant of tin production. Now it is flocked with avid swimmers.
