Founded in 1190, this Premonstratensian monastery was once one of the most important centers of education and art in Central Europe. The complex features the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Wenceslaus, originally a 13th-century Romanesque basilica that incorporates later Gothic and Baroque architectural elements. The church is particularly significant for its Baroque organ decoration, which has been preserved in its original state.

The monastery currently functions as the headquarters for the Znovín Znojmo winery. The premises house a visitor center, a picture gallery, and a museum of winemaking and coopery. A dedicated wine shop is also located on the grounds.

As a National Monument, the complex is a venue for various cultural programs and events. Several parts of the site are undergoing restoration and modernization to establish a new cultural center and enhanced facilities. The historical site is open to the public.
