Established in 1889, this is the oldest museum in the country. The institution is housed in a unique pseudo-Moorish architectural complex, also described as Persian-style, which was constructed between 1903 and 1905. It is designated as a National Monument of historical and architectural importance.

The museum is open to the public and maintains diverse collections spanning paleontology, geology, zoology, archaeology, and ethnography. A central highlight is the permanent exhibition titled Nature. Human. Culture. Notable displays include rare fossils, traditional artifacts, and the famous complete skeleton of a Deinotherium giganteum.

The site includes a Botanical Garden with a Vivarium and a landscaped garden. In addition to its permanent displays, the museum serves as a venue for cultural events, scientific seminars, and handicraft exhibitions.
