Established in the 15th century, this burial ground is among the oldest of its kind. The site contains approximately 4,400 historic tombstones, which serve as a significant record of centuries of communal history.
A prominent feature is the rabbi's hill, which contains the graves of several notable religious figures. This rabbinical section dates back to the 17th century and is notable for its rare collection of macevot (gravestones) preserved from before 1620.
The cemetery is a designated Cultural Heritage Site. Preservation and maintenance are supported by intergenerational volunteer programs aimed at protecting the historic markers and grounds.
