The Atomium is a modernist building originally constructed for the 1958 Universal Exposition, designed to represent a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. It consists of nine stainless steel spheres connected by tubes, housing exhibition spaces and a restaurant. The structure offers panoramic views from its spheres and serves as both a museum and cultural venue, showcasing aspects of architecture, history, and modern art. The design was conceived by André Waterkeyn and Jean Polak, highlighting futuristic architectural concepts of the mid-20th century.
