Borghese Gallery

The gallery is housed in the former Villa Borghese Pinciana, also known as the Casino nobile, a palace designed by Flaminio Ponzio and Giovanni Vasanzio. It originated as a country villa for the noble Borghese family before being transformed into a state museum in 1902. The collection primarily consists of works amassed by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, spanning the Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassicism periods.

The museum is renowned for its exceptional collection of sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and paintings by Caravaggio. Significant masterpieces by Raphael and Titian are also on display across the 2,000 square meters of exhibition space. The gallery is situated within a large historic park and is recognized as one of the most frequented cultural heritage sites open to the public.

Current programming includes the exhibition "Barocco Globale," organized in collaboration with the Scuderie del Quirinale. Digital features include a 360-degree virtual tour of the Sala della Paolina, providing a detailed view of the room's artworks. The institution also hosts lectures and special exhibitions exploring art history and the legacy of figures like the poet Ovid.
