This Piazza is one of the most imposing squares in Rome. It is located on the Capitoline Hill in the very heart of Rome. Lovers of good photographs tend to flock to it for the spectacular views of the city it offers.
Despite the fact that the square was designed by Michelangelo, he never saw his work completed, as he died in 1564 when the square was still under construction.
Ever since its opening, the square has also played as a crucial part in the political life of Rome. This is where you can find the Palazzo Senatorio – once the seat of the Roman Senate, which nowadays serves as its city hall.
